soul mates
Poetical performance without words
soul mates is a poetic ode to the joy of the Wild Child that every one of us has somewhere inside.
A cross between visual art and performance art, soul mates is an ode to the coming together of the human soul and its wild sisters, whose multiple forms are embodied in nature. It is also an ode to childhood, where living in the present moment, in one’s body and in one’s senses comes naturally.
In these times of great inner emptiness and information overload, soul mates dares to offer a moment of silence, beauty, and wonder, and invites audiences of all ages to experience a timeless experience.

CREATIVE AND PRESENTATION PARTNERS
Many thanks for the creative work residencies made possible by Casteliers, the Association québécoise des marionnettistes (AQM), the Festival 1001 Patentes qui bougent, the Maison de la culture Claude-Léveillée, and the Théâtre de la Petite Marée. Their encouragement made all the difference throughout the many creative stages.
A VERY SPECIAL THANK YOU
To Karine St-Arnaud and Myriame Larose, my treasured stage direction partners.
Thanks to their sensitivity and unwavering faith in creation, soul mates has taken flight!
THE CREATIVE JOURNEY
Of course, there were the poetic images that had been part of my creative vocabulary since 2021, as well as the resulting production process. There was a powerful urge to return to the character of the Child I had discovered in my previous work, as well as a strong desire to create the show, soul mates (the first instalment of the trilogy)—An ode to the joy of being in nature, of being in touch with one’s senses and imagination. . .
But words alone cannot adequately describe the magnitude of this adventure and the enormous challenge of bringing such a visual world to life. It was an adventure that took three years of intense research and creation, working alongside my wonderful directorial associates Karine St-Arnaud and Myriame Larose. Setting things in motion with such finesse and sensitivity contributes to the sense of beauty that audiences experience and acknowledge when they come up to us after the show to thank us, to tell us how they were swept away, moved, touched by the beauty of the imaginary world, and drawn in by the grace of this Child.
All this is happening and will continue to happen as the work continues its journey. And every time, it will be thanks to the deeply meaningful connection the three of us have developed. Heartfelt thanks to Karine and Myriame for joining me in this extraordinary project of weaving a poetic thread together, each of us spurred on by our unwavering faith in the beauty and power of the work’s poetic world and its protagonist. Long live the show soul mates!
